30 Conversations on AI and the Future of Design

This book brings together 30 interviews with creatives across the creative industry. On 240 pages, it offers a multi-voiced perspective on one of today’s defining topics: artificial intelligence. It explores how AI is negotiated within design processes and beyond—through positions that shift between fascination and skepticism, productivity and uncertainty.

This ambivalence defines the book. It presents 30 nuanced perspectives on a field undergoing fundamental change and documents the present while providing orientation, sparking reflection, and opening space for discussion.

The Contributors

Contributors include voices from leading design agencies such as Jung von Matt, Kurppa Hosk, Stan Hema, Mutabor, and KMS TEAM, alongside in-house designers from global brands like LVMH, as well as independent and experimental AI artists including Max Kuwertz, Jumoke Fernandez, or Boris Eldagsen. Their insights reveal a wide spectrum of AI practices from structured “AI office hours” and managing client expectations to using AI as a personal space for thinking and reflection.

Evaluating the interviews

An integral part of the concept is a system of evaluations that connects the 30 interviews with one another, highlighting contrasting perspectives on shared questions and making tensions within the discourse visible.

Depicted above are the most frequent answers on the question "Which human skill won't be replaced by AI?".
